Siberians come in many colors, but generally fall into two groups: “Traditional” or “Neva Masquerade.” We have 5 cats in our program that are traditional, and 2 that are Neva Masquerade. Our cats that are of traditional colors are both of our Queens Nala, and Azalea, and King Louie who are Bi metallic, while our other King Theo is a Silver Classic Pattern Tabby (swirl pattern) that carries the Sunshine gene. We are planning a Classic golden female to our cattery in 2025. This means that many of our kittens will be silver and sunshine colors, but we may also have, blue, golden, or brown with classic or mackerel markings. We have a pair of Flame point Neva masquerade cats who will be expected to have kittens from in 2025. As a note, there are many beautiful kittens that are a mix of Neva/Traditional cats; and generally speaking, there is nothing different about these kitten lines in any way other than color.
Siberian cats shed moderately—less than many breeds with a similar coat type. They won't typically leave loads of hair behind after lying on your lap or any other surface. Most of the shedding occurs twice a year: In spring, when they lose extra fur that kept them warm during the winter, and in fall when they lose their summer coat. In winter months more is brushing needed, frequency depends on the cat. In summer time less frequent brushing is generally needed, unless you live in a cold climate. Our kittens will be accustomed to the brush to help them along with coat maintenance.
